Metal-fused sight glasses that will never let you down. For decades. Under the toughest conditions.
We have a complete range of metal-fused sight glasses, which are used worldwide for safe process observation. Our metal-fused sight glasses meet the highest quality standards – according to our quality commitment “Swiss Excellence – Since 1936”.
Metal-fused sight glasses consist of a glass plate that is fused into a metal ring. The result is an inseparable unit, consisting of a glass plate surrounded by a metal ring. As such, the metal-fused sight glass behaves according to the principle of “leak before breakage” (i.e., in the event of damage, the metal-fused sight glass shows surface cracks, but total failure does not occur). In addition, the metal-fused sight is free of gaps/ dead space, which prevents deposits.
For these reasons, metal-fused sight glasses are used as safety solutions, in case of hazardous media, and in sterile environments, where deposits must be avoided due to hygienic reasons.
Our portfolio consists of ten product series that cover all common requirements. Here is an overview of the possibilities:
As sight glass plates or flanges: For circular sight glasses, flow indicators, weld neck nozzles, base flanges and pipe fittings, according to DIN or ANSI
For sterile environments: For clamp connections with Tri-Clamp or NA-Connect™, for VARIVENT®-In-Line housings, for aseptic pipe fittings/ connections, block flanges and Ingold spigots
As screwed sight glasses: For tube fittings, fittings with threads and NPT fittings
Nominal sizes: DN 10 to DN 300, or 0.5” to 12”
Operating pressure: Up to 64 bar (depending on the materials/ design, higher operating pressure possible)
Operating temperature: –60°C to +300°C (depending on the materials)
With central hole for wipers
With adapter ring for light fittings
With lateral hole for light fittings or camera systems
Metal ring: Usually 1.4462 or 2.4602 (others on request)
Glass plate: Usually borosilicate/ DIN 7080 or soda lime/ DIN 8902 (others on request)
Hydraulic pressure test
Mechanical impact test
Mechanical polishing
Electropolishing
Concave grinding on one or both sides (to increase robustness, in particular in case of temperature fluctuations)
